Struggling to have your first baby? One of the reason could be obesity of the woman, according to infertily specialist, Laurence A. Jacobs, MD. He had developed a special program for fitness and fertility for those women who are fighting both obesity and infertility.
“In overweight women with excessive adipose tissue, abnormal pituitary hormone secretions are common, leading to a lack of proper ovulation. Obesity is strongly related to Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). Overweight woman are also particularly susceptible to Diabetes and Insulin resistance. Even with the use of fertility medications or IVF treatments, pregnancy rates are adversely affected by obesity. Many studies have shown that in obese women, especially those with PCOS, a 5-10% weight loss often results in resumption of ovulation and higher pregnancy rates with all fertility treatments.”
The special program has the right ingredients for success of losing weight: involving in a fitness program, utilizing good nutrition, having a support group and working with a specialist. The program also includes reducing stress, keeping a food diary, and incorporating other holistic methods to lose weight. What is encouraging here is the program’s involvement too of the husbands to encourage their wives and lose weight too.

I would agree to this. Not only obesity is linked to many health problems existing up to date, such as hypertension, diabetes and cardiovascular diseases, obesity is also link to problems of infertility. Estrogen production is more likely to increase when you’re obese, thus, creating a hormonal imbalance that interferes with ovulation, and lessen the chances of women to become pregnant. Besides alleviating risks of heart ailments, diabetes and such, women who are obese have chances of acquiring cancer in their womb and some irregularities in their menstrual flow.
With the proper information and enrolling in a special program woman can ovulate while losing weight at the same time. Obesity affects everything. A proper diet and exercise are the common and inexpensive ways of preventing this.

And these can lead to very serious consequences , several facets of your life will be severely affected by this both personally and professionally.

@Better than total Gym. I like what was written there, that seems to be new information to most of us. I can see any number of women reading your comment and the article above and right away doing the denial thing. They would say, well thats really sad for those women but I am not obese, just a little fat.
So, perhaps instead of using this obese word, which is a little dehumanizing, we can write things in our blogs that people who may consider themselves a little over weight can relate to. You know what i mean?
Using phrases like slightly overweight and perhaps giving us an example of how someone who may be carrying an extra 20 lbs or extra 10 kilograms may sometimes be at higher risk blah blah blah.
If you think for one moment that obese women search google based on the terms using the keyword obese, I would say that doesn’t happen very often. The weight usually snuck up on them or was a hormonal thing so I don’t blame them if they are denial, but most really are. And some have wonderful husbands and boyfriends who let them feel that they love them in this state. That one’s complex so I won’t go further on that, but they won’t change while under denial, though they frequently know that there is somewhat of a problem.
