An Argument for Returning to Treating Obesity with Simple Willpower

When I was growing up, the word “willpower” was used a lot. If only one was strong enough to resist sweets, according to logic of the time, one could stay thin. Yet today, based on a series of scientific discoveries, the importance of willpower in promoting weight loss is becoming an obsolete notion. Is it worth saving?
I would say, Yes, it is worth saving. Willpower, is our conscious act of doing the things we know are right. Being determined to lose weight, is only one of our goals that can be achieved with willpower. I’m always been a believer of “if there’s a will, there’s a way” attitude. We have to keep on going, being persistent, and determined in doing the things we know will bring success! This is true in most facets of our life — including exercising and keeping fit.
