Build Abs Fast

All of us, including men and women, admire guys who have “washboard” abs. Achieving this goal of building abs fast can be as hard as climbing a very tall tree without branches, its difficult but doable. It is definitely possible for regular guys like us.

So how would we get great-looking abs? Here is a 3-point plan that is proven to work:

1. In order to see those abs rippling like plates of armor, you must combine aerobic exercises –cycling, running, treadmill workouts, stairclimbing and the like–with abdominal workouts. We tend to store fat in our stomachs, so even if we exercise our abs so much but still we have excess fat, that extra fat will show up in our abs.

Build Abs FastUsually, abdominal fat is the last portion of fat that is shed when we try to lose fat. A target of 10 to 14% body fat is ideal in order for our abs to show. We all have abs to show, only that fat is covering or all over it. Do all the cardio workouts combined with abdominal exercises, AND nutritional eating in order to achieve the 15% body fat. This seems hard? Yes, but it’s doable!

2. Just like any other muscles in our body, the abdominal muscles must be trained with progressive intensity from workout to workout.

This means that we train our abs to lift with increasing weight. Most of the crunches will be done using our body weight only, at first! But when you find that you can do those crunches for 3 sets of 12 reps each, then you start to put on more weight to lift (by carrying a weight plate for example) to do your crunches, and you go back to doing 8 reps for each set only.

The abdominal exercises are suggested to be done with increasing weights.

3. Do the proper technique of abdominal exercises and do it at correct number of reps. The trouble is that a lot of guys do them wrong and do them too much. One example is when lifting your body off the floor, it should be at 30 to 45 degrees to the floor, not all the way up to the knees which is almost 80 degrees. Rising more than 45 degrees loses the tension in the abs and work is now on the hip flexor muscles, not in the abs.

Proper workout techniques are shown in the abs exercises section. I listed here the specific workout plans that concentrate on developing the abs.

Don’t get into a numbers crunch. Most guys wouldn’t exercise their biceps everyday, or would not do more than 20 reps. But they do it when doing crunches, doing more than 20, sometimes 50 reps, which is wrong. Treat your abs like you treat your biceps. You will develop it and the six-pack will show.
